World heritage Shurijo Castle main shrine remains of an ancient structure

Remains of an ancient structure (let's go) of Shurijo Castle main shrine foundation stone (kidan) are registered with world's cultural heritage and are very important cultural assets symbolizing the ruins of Shuri-jo Castle that is country designated historic spot. Remains of an ancient structure are things which a part of the old building was left for. Main shrine remains of an ancient structure can look at piling-stones of foundation stone of the past. After the fire, we remove material or ash of main shrine which burnt down and we put backfill, roof with soil to protect remains of an ancient structure and release.

Shurijo Castle main shrine foundation stone (kidan)

Foundation stone is base supporting building. We match these foundation stone remains of an ancient structure with treasure troves such as other tiles and historic information, and Shurijo Castle conveys that main shrine building was rebuilt for at least seven times. Remains of an ancient structure which are released are parts, but this ground can actually see trace of Shurijo Castle which has been built now from the 15th century.

It is the important human common inheritance who it is "irreplaceable treasure which is produced by generation of the earth and history of the human, and has been succeeded from the past to the present", and world's cultural heritage is succeeded from the past to the present and should tell the future. The ruins of Shuri-jo Castle are registered with eight other inheritances as one of "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu" in 2000.

As well as Shurijo Castle main shrine foundation stone remains of an ancient structure, main shrine stone stairs step and railing, main shrine roof can see working for holdover, the reconstruction after fire including steel frame and piece of stem crest (ryutoumunakazari) which we installed this time. In addition, we can observe "Uchihara (Chiba and others to pursue) area" and "azana of the east" (get nervous) where the reconstruction construction was completed in 2019. We can overlook cityscape of Shurijo Castle Park whole area and Naha from east azana and, depending on weather, can see kyukoshima, too.

In December, 2000, "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu" was registered with cultural heritage as the eleventh world heritage in Japan.

It is the ruin of Shuri-jo Castle that is outstanding conspicuously in gusuku registered as world heritage. When Hashi Sho unified Ryukyus, we have already appeared in front stage of history. Afterwards, it became center of King state politics, diplomacy, culture of nearly 450 years.

Shurijo Castle main shrine expresses originality of wisdom of people who took in not only saying the Okinawa's greatest wooden building but also Japan and Chinese architecture wonderfully at the time and Okinawa culture best.

We call a certain gate stone and forest of the neighboring whole area "Ontake" (utaki) beside Shureimon.

When the king went out from Shurijo Castle, we prayed for security of journey in here enhiokubugotakeishimon.
