Native Okinawan Village and Omoro Arboretum

Okinawan Granaries

We can compare size with above-ground house storehouse, the number of pillars.

Storehouses to store cereals include three of above-ground house storehouse seen in so-called Takakura and Haterumajima and the ground storehouse. We put up floor with all one's might and make the ventilation better, and Takakura prevents moisture and "we see back without sleeping" and fit no board in the upper part of pillar again, and invention is done for preservation of cereals. Pillar assumes four, six, nine by size of building with circle, and we make floor, and roof of hip roof is hung on the top, and roof does by thatch or bamboo roofing.
